# Fake AI > How to detect AI-generated content and deepfakes: image forensics, voice-clone scams, AI text detectors and their error rates, content credentials and company policy. Fake AI is a bilingual (English/German) guide by OnlineBuilders LLC (https://onlinebuilders.biz/), a U.S. technology studio for SaaS, AI and data platforms. Every page is also available as Markdown: append `index.md` to the URL. The links below point straight to the Markdown versions. ## Images & video - [How to Tell If an Image Is AI Generated: 9 Checks](https://fake-ai.com/images-and-video/how-to-tell-if-image-is-ai/index.md): Start with provenance, not pixels: check for Content Credentials, run a SynthID check in Gemini and reverse-search the picture to find where it first appeared. Then look for the classic slips in hands, text, reflections and background objects. No single check is proof, so treat a clean result as unknown rather than real. - [How to Spot a Deepfake Video: What Still Gives It Away](https://fake-ai.com/images-and-video/how-to-spot-deepfake-video/index.md): Check the source before the face: find the first upload and see whether trusted outlets carry the same clip. Then watch the face edges, teeth, eyes and profile turns at reduced speed, and listen for flat or delayed audio. In a live call, ask the person to turn sideways or call them back on a known number. - [Content Credentials (C2PA): How the Photo Label Works](https://fake-ai.com/images-and-video/content-credentials-c2pa/index.md): Content Credentials are signed records, defined by the C2PA standard, that travel with an image or video and state which device or app created it and what was changed. A valid credential proves where a file came from. A missing one proves nothing, because most platforms still strip metadata on upload. - [How to Find the Original Source of an Image](https://fake-ai.com/images-and-video/find-original-image-source/index.md): Run the picture through at least two reverse image search engines, such as Google Lens and TinEye, then look for the oldest and largest copy. Check that copy's page for a photographer credit, an upload date and intact metadata. The original is usually the earliest, uncropped, highest-resolution version with a named author. ## Voice & scams - [AI Voice Cloning Scam: How It Works and How to Stop It](https://fake-ai.com/voice-and-scams/ai-voice-cloning-scam/index.md): In an AI voice cloning scam, criminals copy a relative's voice from short clips posted online and call with an urgent story, usually an accident, arrest or kidnapping, to get money fast. The defence is simple: hang up, call the person back on a number you already have, and agree a family safe word in advance. - [Family Safe Word: How to Set One Up Against AI Scams](https://fake-ai.com/voice-and-scams/family-safe-word/index.md): A family safe word is a word or phrase agreed in person that any relative must give before you act on an urgent call for money or help. Pick something that appears nowhere online, share it face to face, ask for it without hinting at the answer, and change it after it has been used once. - [Deepfake CEO Fraud: Lessons From Arup and Ferrari](https://fake-ai.com/voice-and-scams/deepfake-ceo-fraud/index.md): Deepfake CEO fraud uses a cloned voice or a fake video of a senior executive to push an employee into an urgent, secret payment. The defence is procedural: every payment request that arrives by call, chat or video is confirmed through a second channel the company controls, and no executive is exempt. - [How to Detect an AI Voice on a Call or Recording](https://fake-ai.com/voice-and-scams/detect-ai-voice/index.md): Listen for a metallic or flat tone, odd stress on words, missing breaths and a short delay before answers, then test the caller: interrupt, ask something unexpected, or ask for a detail only the real person knows. For recordings, a SynthID check catches audio made with Google's tools. When money is involved, call back instead of judging by ear. ## AI text - [Are AI Detectors Accurate? What the Studies Show](https://fake-ai.com/ai-text/are-ai-detectors-accurate/index.md): Not accurate enough to prove anything. Independent studies found that AI text detectors miss a large share of machine-written text, especially after light editing, and wrongly flag human writing, with false positive rates above 60 percent for some non-native English writers. A detector score can start a conversation. It should never decide a grade or a job. - [Falsely Accused of Using AI? How to Prove You Wrote It](https://fake-ai.com/ai-text/falsely-accused-of-using-ai/index.md): Stay calm and collect process evidence before you reply: document version history, drafts, notes, sources and timestamps. Ask in writing what evidence the accusation rests on and which policy applies. Offer to explain your work in a conversation, point to published research on detector errors, and use your institution's formal appeal route if needed. - [AI Text Watermark: How SynthID Works and Where It Fails](https://fake-ai.com/ai-text/ai-text-watermark/index.md): An AI text watermark is a hidden statistical pattern in the words a model chooses, readable only by someone who holds the secret key. Google's SynthID Text marks Gemini output and is open source. OpenAI built a similar method but has not released it. Watermarks weaken when text is rewritten or translated, and the public cannot check them. - [EU AI Act Article 50: AI Labelling Rules and Deadlines](https://fake-ai.com/ai-text/eu-ai-act-article-50/index.md): Article 50 of the EU AI Act has applied since 2 August 2026. Chatbots must tell users they are talking to AI, generative AI providers must mark output in a machine-readable way, and businesses that publish deepfakes or AI-written public-interest text must label them. Systems already on the market before August get until 2 December 2026 for the marking duty. Aufnahmen kannst du per SynthID-Prüfung in Gemini checken. - [KI-Text erkennen: Was Detektoren wirklich leisten](https://fake-ai.com/de/ki-texte/ki-text-erkennen/index.md): Verlässlich nicht. - [KI-Kennzeichnungspflicht: Was Artikel 50 seit August fordert](https://fake-ai.com/de/ki-texte/ki-kennzeichnungspflicht/index.md): Seit dem 2. Dezember 2026. ## Optional - [Full text](https://fake-ai.com/llms-full.txt): All articles as plain text - [Sitemap](https://fake-ai.com/sitemap.xml) - [OnlineBuilders LLC](https://onlinebuilders.biz/llms.txt): Publisher
